AP Studio Students are Blogging!

The AP Studio Art students are blogging about their Concentration Sections of their AP 2-D Design Portfolio. The Concentration Section allows students to work in the same way that many professional artists work, by creating a body of work based on a single idea. Silhouettes based on Kara Walker

In Sculpture/Mixed Media class, students studied the work of artist Kara Walker and created their own silhouettes based on the concept of "FEAR". Each student came up with a list of the fears that they have, and creatively problem solved to figure out to depict this fear using just two materials - black paper and exacto knives. Some of their fears can be recognized and are literal, whereas others were illustrated more abstractly. Here's a sample of some of their finished products!

Ceramics I - Flower Sculptures

In Ceramics I we have been busy! This is just a small sample of the many beautiful flowers the Ceramics I students created. They did an amazing job using colors and creating realistic depth in their flowers. It was a great project to wrap up the first quarter.
